Amharic Language፡ አማርኛ ቋንቋ

This is a course aimed at helping the Ethiopian diaspora kids stay rooted in their native language, Amharic. It is designed to help students achieve the necessary skills in navigating the language to the best of their abilities. The course includes three levels; level 1, level 2 and level 3. All levels have been curated in a way that includes all the four skills, namely listening, speaking, reading and writing.

The course will be given for a tentative of three months with classes occurring three times a week (every other day) for an hour duration. It is going to be carried out via a convenient, virtual meeting platform. The course fee stated above is per Month and we offer speciall discounts for the families who have multiple students. 

Target Audience (Beneficiaries) ፡

This is a course targeting students of various abilities in the Amharic language, ranging from absolute beginners to intermediate speakers. The audience is expected to be from 5 to 15 years of age.

Course objectives:

Level 1:Duration: 3 months

Students should be able to:

·         Introduce themselves and others as well as ask for personal information.

·         Describe interests, likes and dislikes, and describe people and things.

·         Compose sentences.

·         Tell time.

leLevel 2:Duration: 3 months

Students should be able to:

·         Have adequate knowledge on basic grammar.

·         Ask for and give directions.

·         Have necessary mastery over skills for common day to day life conversations.

·         Communicate in social gatherings.

Level 3: Duration: 3 months

Students should be able to:

·         Read and write basic Amharic.

·         Express themselves on different issues in different settings.

·         Talk about family, hobbies, school, and current events.

·         Engage in natural conversations.
